Inspired by his passion for the land and a love for farming, Chilean Gonzalo Vial decided to launch a new project: a winery that would honour Chile’s origins in its processes and wines. In 1998, the first vines at the Trinidad property were planted in the coastal region of the Maipo Valley, where the new winery was built.

In 1999 the new winery was formally launched, with a name that paid homage to our glaciers in the Chilean Patagonia: Ventisquero, which in Spanish means glacier.

At the dawn of a new millennium, the first harvest took place, led by winemaker Felipe Tosso, and the first Ventisquero wines were released in 2001.

In 2008 Viña Ventisquero planted its first vines in the Huasco Valley, in the middle of the Atacama Desert. During that same year, Viña Ventisquero began growing vines on a new estate in the coastal Leyda Valley.

In 2020 Ventisquero took part of Ventisquero Wine Estates Holding, exporting a wide range of wines to the world, from the best wine regions in Chile.

Ventisquero delivers wines which are different and passionate about the earth, its origins and its fruits. Our impetuous wines are of great quality. We are motivated by ongoing curiosity to achieve a different quality, and we know that to obtain those results we cannot just continue doing the same thing. Instead we must experiment, take alternative routes and challenge the established way of doing things.

Ventisquero is a challenging spirit, certain that passion and nonconformity produce better wines.
