Fogg and Smith take all manner of forms of transport to get from Georgia to India, where they finally arrive at the largest and one of the most successful vineyards in India, Fratelli. Set up in just 2006 as a collaboration between the Secci brothers from Italy and the Sekhri and Mohite-Patil brothers from India.
They are now ranked as one of the top 100 vineyards in the whole world; an incredible achievement. This wine, J'Noon, a play on the word "Junoon" meaning 'Passion', is a serious wine, and they've brought in some serious talent to help blend it: none other than Jean-Charles Boisset from Burgundy.
Stylistically, somewhere between a Bordeaux and a Supertuscan, it brings together punchy fruit, spice, body, and tertiary notes, way beyond its youthful years. But it also brings in a decidedly unique and delicious quality that places it on its own – it was unlike anything we've tasted before, leaving us speechless for a good minute!!
Now... on to China. But not for Baijou, but for some proper grape wine made from noble grapes!
13.5% alcohol, blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Marselan, and Sangiovese. 750ml.
