Monrouby is a small village in the Languedoc, close to Pomérols, in which the Baron de Badassière and the Vignes de L’Eglise wines are produced. The wines are made by Matt Thomson of Blank Canvas and winemaker Marguerite Vasseur who vinify several varieties separately due to the exceptional quality of the fruit.
These vineyards are located on low-lying hills, where the Bassin de Thau (a string of lakes) moderates the climate. As there is little rain in the summer, the gentle breezes from the lakes and the Mediterranean Sea lower evaporation and, in turn, reduce vine stress.
