We make it up to the Alexana Winery in Washington. Well... technically, that's not quite true – the winery itself is just over the border in Oregon, but the fruit for this wine all comes from the Columbia Valley in Washington State. Set up by Dr Madaia Revana, who also has wine estates in St Helena (Napa) and the Uco Valley (Mendoza), this is an incredible GSM blend – or should we say SGM blend, as Syrah is the majority grape here! At 10 years old, there's oodles of complexity but still plenty of primary fruit, so drinking in its absolute prime. A real treat!
