Sainte-Marie, 'Vielles Vignes' Bordeaux Superieur
Beautifully ripe and fresh berry fruit aromas and flavours: mulberry, raspberry and strawberry. Dry in the mouth, with gentle tannin structure, it shows fabulous intensity with lovely persistence of strawberry fruit on the finish. A wine with a definite Bordeaux sense of place.
Manually harvested from different plots in the Entre-Deux-Mers region, each with their own soil and character, including a plot of one hundred-year-old Merlot vines. Slow, low-temperature fermentation, between 16° and 20°C for 2-3 weeks, followed by gentle, pneumatic pressing. Aged 12 months in French oak barrels, of which 20% were new.
